Not long ago, I shared that I took a break because I needed to. I was tired, not just in my body but also in my mind and feelings. Like many moms, I had told myself that slowing down was not possible.
Taking that step back taught me some important lessons.
I realized that rest is not something we have to earn. There will always be more laundry, another appointment, or something else to do. If we wait until everything is done before we rest, we might never get the chance.
I also learned that nothing breaks down when I take a break. The dishes waited. The emails waited. Life went on. Most of the pressure I felt came from what I expected of myself.
Most importantly, I realized my value is not connected to how much I finish. Being busy does not make me more important, and taking time to rest does not make me lazy. It just makes me human.
My family does not need a perfect mom. They need one who is there. When I slowed down, I began to notice the small moments again, like the laughter, the talks, and the quiet mornings that often get lost in the busy rush of daily life. Feeling overwhelmed, let this be your reminder: it is okay to pause. It is okay to rest. You do not have to do everything.
Sometimes, the best thing we can do is step back and be as kind to ourselves as we are to others.
Until next time—
“Keep learning, keep growing, and keep becoming who you were created to be.”
With Love,
