Raising Twins: Double the Love, Double the Lessons

Raising twins is a blessing… but let me be real—it’s also a whole experience 😅

Because it’s not just “two kids at once.”
It’s two completely different humans growing up side by side… at the same time… with the same mom… and somehow STILL nothing alike.

JJ and Mia have taught me that real quick.

JJ—my baby—he’s gentle, he’s figuring things out in his own time, and walking through his speech delay has stretched my patience in ways I never expected. There are days I have to slow all the way down, meet him where he is, and remind myself that progress doesn’t always look loud.

Then there’s Mia.

Oh… Mia 😂

Smart mouth, quick wit, strong personality—and if I’m being honest? She acts JUST like me. And that realization alone has been a lesson in self-reflection because now I’m raising a mini version of myself while still trying to grow myself at the same time.

God really said, “Let me show you YOU.” 😭

Raising them together has taught me that:

  • every child needs something different
  • comparison will steal your joy QUICK
  • patience is not optional—it’s required
  • and love? love has to stretch in different directions at the same time

And don’t even get me started on things like potty training…

Potty training TWO toddlers at the same time?
Yeah… I deserve an award for that alone.

There are moments of chaos—crying, messes, repeating myself over and over again. Moments where I’m tired, overstimulated, and questioning if I’m doing this right.

But then there are moments…

The laughs.
The hugs.
Watching them play together.
Seeing their bond grow.

And in those moments, I realize—

This is something special.

Not easy.
Not quiet.
Not always peaceful.

But special.

Raising twins has taught me that motherhood isn’t about having control—it’s about learning how to adjust, adapt, and love each child for exactly who they are.

Even when they’re completely different.
Even when they challenge you.
Even when they reflect parts of you you’re still working on.

Double the love.
Double the lessons.
And definitely… double the growth.

Until next time—
“Keep learning, keep growing, and keep becoming who you were created to be.”

With Love,
The Really Real Mom Hallie
